Route 1 is the main road that circumnavigates Iceland, making a road trip the ideal way to see the country. In terms of square mileage, the island is close to the size of New York state. Additionally, Icelanders do drive on the right side of the road.

This particular side of the island is one of the wettest areas in Iceland, receiving rain over 300 days of the year. How pleasantly ironic, then, that I happened to be there on one of the dry days.
